Cultivating the Future of Healthcare
Hearth Ethics Studio is a next generation ethics consultancy that specializes in bioethical and regulatory challenges in healthcare and biotech organizations.
Within the contemporary healthcare landscape, rapid innovation and changing legislation has made the industry rife with tensions between emerging ethical demands, professional standards, and the day-to-day operations of real organizations. Navigating these tensions is a difficult, high-stakes operational challenge where missteps mean exposure to litigation, fines, backed-up production pipelines, and catastrophic reputational damage.
In such a highly regulated environment, Hearth Ethics Studio navigates the difficult terrain between what is legal and what is right. By translating complex bioethical frameworks into practical, legally robust ethical policy, we mitigate risk, protect professional standards, and safeguard your institutional integrity and organizational culture.
We combine deep bioethical expertise with advanced regulatory intelligence to deliver rapid, targeted risk assessments and solutions. Partnering with Hearth allows you to pre-empt ethical challenges and build an organizational culture where you and your team can flourish.
Principal Ethicist & Founder
Kyle Barbour, PhD
As the Founder and Principal Ethicist of Hearth Ethics Studio, I lead a specialized bioethics and policy consultancy designed to solve the ethical challenges of modern healthcare and biotechnology organizations. My advisory approach is defined by an authentic dedication to helping our communities, organizations, and people to flourish through rigorous ethical analysis and evidence-informed policy.
Holding a PhD in Philosophy alongside specialized graduate training in healthcare ethics, I am certified in TCPS-2, PHIA, and GBA+. My practice is built on translating rigorous bioethical frameworks into practical, legally robust ethical policy that mitigates risk, protects professional standards, and safeguards institutional integrity.
Beyond my consulting work, I am an active scholar within bioethics and have published peer-reviewed articles in leading journals and act as a frequent reviewer for the Canadian Journal of Bioethics. I am also a successful university lecturer and have taught courses in ethics, critical thinking, and the philosophy of law. This experience helps me to translate complex ethical theory, regulations, and legislation into actionable organizational strategy.
