Service Three of our Hearth Ethics Studio Product Suite is our Organizational Culture Audit & Institutional Alignment. Designed to test for institutional alignment, the Policy Architecture Audit is a careful examination of the most important governance documents for your organization.
Institutional alignment is one of the key means of mitigating organizational risk associated with unclear or contradictory governance documents. By thoroughly analyzing the way that your organization’s most important governance documents interface, we determine ambiguity, contradiction, and other points of friction within those documents and provide clear, actionable directives on how to resolve those issues.
The audit process involves gathering up to five (5) of the organization’s most fundamental governance documents (including supplementary commentaries and policies). From this set of documents, the audit first examines the clarity of key terms and regulations to ensure that there are no poorly defined terms that may cause interpretive errors. The audit then examines the coherence of these terms, concepts, and regulations across the set of governance documents. This ensures that all organizational requirements are clear and unambiguous. By ensuring that organizational requirements are clear, the audit insulates against friction between organizational members/employees, clients, the public and the organization.
The Organizational Culture Audit & Institutional Alignment provides the structural blueprint and specific textual recommendations for alignment; execution or drafting services can be appended as a separate engagement.
Deliverable:
A 3-5 page document that provides actionable insights into the friction points within your organization’s documents and policies, a descriptive list of steps to take to remediate those issues, and a list of suggested textual changes to those same documents to bolster the coherence of company policies and insulate against risk caused by policy alignment issues.
